9. Perplexity’s Comet Browser Targets Enterprise Deployment With CrowdStrike Security Integration
Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas announced that Comet, the company’s AI browser, is being positioned explicitly as an enterprise product. The browser supports mass deployment via Mobile Device Management (MDM) systems, meaning IT administrators can roll it out to thousands of employees without individual installations. Comet is integrated with CrowdStrike’s Falcon platform for real-time detection of suspicious links and files, and includes administrative controls governing where and how embedded agents can operate within an organization’s environment.
The CrowdStrike integration is the strategically load-bearing detail here. By pairing with Falcon, Perplexity is directly addressing the security objection that would otherwise block enterprise procurement conversations before they start. CrowdStrike counts roughly 29,000 enterprise customers, giving Comet a warm channel into security-conscious IT buyers who already trust that stack. This puts Perplexity in direct competition not just with Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge for browser market share, but with broader enterprise AI workflow tools like Microsoft Copilot, which is deeply embedded in the same organizational environments Comet is targeting. The losers in the near term are vendors selling standalone enterprise AI assistants that sit on top of existing browsers rather than replacing them.
The browser is emerging as a serious battleground for AI distribution. Google controls Chrome’s defaults; Microsoft controls Edge’s integration with Entra and M365; now Perplexity is betting that the browser itself, reimagined as an agent runtime with enterprise-grade controls, is the right wedge into corporate accounts. If Comet gains MDM traction, it gives Perplexity something it has never had: a persistent, policy-governed surface through which to deliver AI capabilities, collect usage signals, and lock in switching costs the same way productivity suites historically have.
